DC Noise 110 – Listener of The Month and Flash

As the new year approaches the guys start a new segment of the show where we call a listener and get to learn about them and their likes and dislikes. This month we get to meet Shaun Rogers and we discuss how he got into DC Comics, what gets on his nerves, and what he loves. We talking about all kinds of different comics like Vampirella, Abattoir, and Whatever Happened to Baron Von Shock? Also discuss the different incarnations of Batgirl and Dick Grayson’s sex life and who he should be with. After about 1 hour Shaun has some technical difficulties and we end with discussion of the Flash 4-6 and the conclusion to the Renegades story arc.

  1. Hi guys! I liked the episode alot. The dynamic was pretty cool.

I couldn't listen to all of it though, because I haven't read the flash yet (I'm a trade reader).

PS: I love star trek especially the new generation series.

    Happy Holidays!!!!!

  2. Keith, thanks for the mention but I never said Alan Moore wasn't original. I was talking about an unnamed creator who takes other people's concepts and improves upon them. I never mentioned any names.

However, I would like to point out that Top Ten was directly influenced by Steven Bochco's Hill Street Blues.

  3. @Derek Doh! Alright, I'm sure every creator has an influence of some kind that they draw inspiration. You're right, I apologize. No names were mentioned and I filled in the blanks with my own thoughts where I shouldn't have.

Hill Street Blues was a great show! I wish they continued this last series of Top Ten that they did. It ended pretty abruptly and I wished it would have kept going!

  4. Guys another great show.

You talk a lot about so many things…

The Pro animation was a test, for Comedy Central (I think). According to Jimmy Palmiotti they were interested in making a series.

I love Stephanie Brown as Batgirl. My favorite.

    Shaun was a great guest.

I would love to be guest.

    Keep the good work

  5. @Mónica

Thanks Monica! I also want to thank you for providing feedback and supporting our show all year log. Thanks for the DC Noise Logo Train. Man I would be surprised if Comedy Central would show something like the Pro on the network.

Batgirl is one of my favorite Bat titles. We would love to have you on the show to talk comics. I hope you have a Saturday Night available.

  6. Actually Mike, Comedy Central shows uncensored stuff after 1:00 on the weekends. To be more accurate, they don't censor for language and subject matter, they still censor for nudity. I haven't read The Pro in years, but I don't remember a lot of stuff they couldn't hide with imaginative "camera angles". If you watch late at night, you can see uncensored Richard Pryor and Dave Chappelle shows. They also like to show the South Park movie every few months uncut.

And my favorite Batgirl is Barbara, but only from Batgirl: Year One (one of my all time favorite miniseries). After that, I like Stephanie, Cassandra and Barbara (after Year One) in that order.

  7. Well Derek you can watch the trailer and see for yourself. Not much left to the imagination with the blow job scene.

That is a great mini. For me it is tough because as far as single issues we had more Cassandra. Barbara was in a lot of comics but not a lot of her own comics. Just that Batgirl Year One and Batgirl Special. I will go with Cassandra as being my favorite.
